My name is Emma. I’m an English-born world-traveler now living in Chicago. I’m a Health Coach and graduate of The Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I have three diseases which are classified as autoimmune – Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hypothyroidism and Lyme Disease. I have a particular interest in providing pragmatic support and guidance to those with families who are dealing with autoimmune issues and food allergies.
My health history has been quite the roller coaster, with health issues since the age of 14. I faced many years of misdiagnoses, finally receiving a diagnosis of Chronic Lyme Disease, which contributed to my Rheumatoid Arthritis and Hypothyroidism diagnosis. In 2007, I opted to eat gluten and dairy free, but it wasn’t until 2014, when I found The Autoimmune Protocol that I got the relief and health I really deserved!
I’m also a single mum, and in 2013 my daughter was eating gluten free at home, but exposed to gluten at day care and at her Dad’s home. She was a happy bright and intelligent child, full of life, and so excited to go to school, but when kindergarten started she developed a lack of focus, struggled to write and she had no interest in trying to read. You may consider that as common for a five year old, but I saw in my daughter some of my own struggles. After medical testing, her results indicated an allergic response to all grains but corn; potatoes, dairy and eggs! And, the report indicated that she was borderline on the Autism Spectrum, too.
I immediately removed these foods from her diet, with the support of her Dad and her school, explaining to her that she would become pretty sick if she continued to eat them. Within two weeks of removing these foods, she picked up a book and read to me! That was all the encouragement she or I needed - from unable to focus on a book to 1st grade reading simply by removing certain foods from her diet! WOW! Not to mention how calm our house became. And that’s even with having to change our diet and the challenges of trying new foods – our house became calmer!
In my own personal experience I have learned so much, but wanted to learn more, so I started to study as a Health Coach to assist other families as they transition to a new way of living. If I can share just one nugget of information that wasn’t on hand for me during the journey then I consider it a job well done!
While the Autoimmune Protocol has proven life changing for so many clients, I repeatedly see the reintroduction phase as a major hurdle. Because of this, I partnered with Jo to provide a community of support for the growing number of people around the globe who are reclaiming their health using The Autoimmune Protocol.

Hey! I’m Jo. I’m a former nomadic Kiwi (New Zealander) who has made Sydney, Australia her home. I’m also a certified Holistic Health Coach and I have a degree in psychology, along with a couple of decades in corporate HR roles. For over twenty years, I suffered from an undiagnosed chronic skin condition. I never talked about it because it was hugely embarrassing and shameful. Despite seeking help from numerous doctors and specialists, it remained undiagnosed until a chance article caught my eye. It transpired that my issue was autoimmune in nature – and my revolting and painful skin condition that I never talked about had a name. Hidradenitus Suppurativa (HS).
Just after my 40th birthday, when a blood test revealed scary-low Vitamin D levels, I decided I needed to take more of a proactive role in my health. I’m living proof that it’s never too late!
After changing doctors and undertaking much research and testing, I discovered that not only do I have a genetic predisposition to autoimmune issues, but my poor ability to manage stress and my negligent sleep habits were affecting my health just as much as my diet. And, as a result, my gut was in serious disrepair, too.
I've learnt a lot about health over the past while. And, I've knocked my autoimmune condition of over two decades into almost complete remission. All by making some healthy lifestyle changes. The principles of AIP have become a way of life for me.
For many, the reintroduction phase of the Autoimmune Protocol can prove as stressful and daunting as the decision to even start. For some, even more so. And that is how AIP Reset was born - as a way of supporting others to re calibrate for 30 days before they begin their reintroduction process - be it the first time, or for those wanting to give it another go in a more structured way.
